23 killed, ten injured in Mexico crash

“Unfortunately 23 people were killed,” including minors, Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum told reporters at the scene in the southern part of the city.

In one of the worst accidents on the network, two trains collided, killing 23 people and injuring 55 in October 1975.
The incident comes just a year after two trains collided in Mexico City, killing one person and injuring around 40 others as passengers escaped smoke inhalation.
In another incident in January this year, one person died and 29 were inhaled with smoke in a fire in a control center.
The latest tragedy comes at a time when Mexico is struggling to contain a pandemic, which has killed more than 217,000 people across the country — one of the highest in the world. the world.
